Following the expiration of his contract, Pillman left AEW, which made headlines last month. Just a few days later, he was apparently working out at the WWE Performance Centre in Orlando as a free agent, and there were rumours that WWE wanted to sign him. Pillman hinted at a significant development the following week.

A feud with MJF that ended in a defeat at Dynamite Grand Slam in 2021 was the most significant thing Brian ever accomplished in AEW. From that point on, Pillman’s career was doomed, especially once Julia Hart and his tag team act were dropped.

According to a recent rumour from PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, WWE has hired Brian Pillman Jr. Pillman Jr. is expected to attend the August 8th NXT taping, the report continues. There is no information on whether he will be on television.

Covalent TV made a post on Twitter that states the return of Brian Pillman Jr, “ PWInsider reports that Brian Pillman Jr is believed to have signed with WWE after training at the Performance Center last month. Pillman’s contract with AEW expired prior to that and WWE was said to have interest at the time. According to the report, Pillman will be at tomorrow night’s NXT taping.”

Some of the comments under the post read, “ This is a W. The matches he’ll have”, while someone else wrote “ Having mostly not seen his social media stuff that seems to have turned people off him, I quite like Pillman. WWE is a better fit for him than AEW, I reckon. I expect him to do well there, whereas I don’t think he’d have ever really succeeded with AEW.”

Since departing AEW, the second-generation star has been associated with WWE. Pillman Jr. was seen working out at the WWE Performance Centre just after his contract with the AEW ended.

The news follows Cassidy Haynes’ story from July 23 of Bodyslam.net that a “deal was in place” to sign the star.

Despite having family ties to WWE, Pillman Jr. has never previously played for the organisation. The athlete started working out with Lance Storm in 2017 and later competed for MLW before joining AEW in 2019.

Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison were the Varsity Blonds throughout his time in AEW, but in recent months, screen time has become scarce.

Due to WWE’s interest in Brian Pillman Jr., it was previously claimed that his joining was “only a matter of time” before the transaction was finalised.
