Lionel Messi transfer: Lionel Messi is leaving PSG at the end of this season. There is no confirmed news as to where he might go next. There is a great chance that he could return to Barcelona. Leo Messi will have to take a huge pay cut on his salary, but considering the club’s financial issues, his transfer largely depends on whether La Liga give Barcelona permission to bring over the Argentine. However, coach Xavi believes the transfer depends 99 percent on Messi. Follow La Liga LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

During an interview with the Catalonian TV Channel, TV3, coach Xavi was asked about the biggest transfer rumour of this summer transfer window. In the past few months, the club and Xavi himself have been in contact with Messi. During the interview, hsaid, “It depends on him [Messi]. If he wants to come to Barca, we will do everything necessary so that he can come. I think the conditions are right. Football-wise I think he could still help us a lot. But it depends on him 99 percent.”
While the destination of Leo Messi’s next club will entirely depend on his decision, there are still several factors involved in the matter. The Argentine has received several offers from European clubs, the MLS club David Beckham co-owned Inter Miami, and the Saudi club Al-Hilal. Al-Hilal have offered the player more than €500 million. This could be extremely tempting to any player in the world. However, Messi could want to stay in Europe to play in one of the world’s most competitive leagues.
In recent times, Messi has travelled to Barcelona, met with David Beckham when he visited PSG a few weeks ago, and travelled to Saudi as their tourism ambassador. Hence, there has been no clue as to where he might choose to go. However, he has been spending a lot of time with his friends and former teammates from Barcelona. Even recently as PSG won the Ligue 1 trophy, during the league’s award ceremony, Messi was spotted in Barcelona enjoying at a Coldplay concert with his friends.

While it is true that if Messi decides to go elsewhere, there is nothing Barcelona can do to bring him. However, even if Messi wants to come back to his childhood club, Barcelona will still have to sort their financial issues and get permission from La Liga on their viability plan. Thus far, Barcelona have presented viability plans to La Liga, but they haven’t received any positive response from them. La Liga want Barcelona to cut down more than €200 million from their wage bill.
Barcelona plan to achieve this by selling a lot of their players. They have started their way to financial stability by saying goodbye to Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. On how difficult it was as their manager to say goodbye to the players he once played alongside with, he said, “I thought it would be easier. When you have to make decisions contrary to what the player would want, it starts to become difficult.”
He added, “Especially when it comes to friends, like Gerard. I told him he had to step aside, and it was hard for me to fall asleep. Jordi got angry, but he showed me that he was 100 percent committed. With Busquets, everything has been easier. All three have been able to leave at the right time.”
