Wrexham boss ANGRY on Man United keeper for puncturing Paul Mullin’s lung in ugly clash

Wrexham boss was furious after the first-half incident when Man United goalkeeper got involved in tussle with Paul Mullin and he was taken to hospital.

Man United vs Wrexham: Man United goalkeeper got involved in a tussle with Wrexham star as Paul Mullin suffered a punctured lung. It happened during the pre-season encounter between Man United and Wrexham in San Diego. It was the youth side of Man United who were playing against the National League winners.

Mullin got a vicious challenge by Man United’s goalkeeper Nathan Bishop at the early start of the first half. Mullin was taken to the hospital because he required oxygen. He never came back to play again so the injury was crucial in the initial stage.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson was not happy with the Man United goalkeeper and expressed his anger. He wanted Nathan Bishop to leave the ground for this behvaiour. After half-time, fans also booed continuously to make this incident more negative.

Parkinson showed his disappointment after the game and said: “I’m fuming about it, I’ve got to be honest with you. It was a clumsy, reckless, challenge in a pre-season game and I’m not happy with it at all.

He also added, “I haven’t seen the goalie and he’s probably best steering clear of us for the time being because we’re not very happy.

Wrexham manager felt a red card should be given to Bishop after his 12th-minute tussle with Mullin. Phil Parkinson was furious with referee Mark Allatin. He added more, “It should have been a straight red. If it’s not denying a goal-scoring opportunity it’s still a dangerous challenge so if you add the two scenarios together he should have been off the pitch.

“It’s a dangerous challenge and obviously Paul Mullin is our talisman. The way the lads responded after that I thought was outstanding. That’s what we’re all about as a group – resilience, sticking together.”

Mullin received oxygen and he was not able to play again in the game after six minutes of treatment from medics. Man United skipper Dan Gore was sent off in the second half. Man United coach Travis Binnion said Bishop had tried to reach out to Mullin to offer his support.

Wrexham AFC beat Man United 3-1 to show their talent and it was their first win against the Premier League side in pre-season after losing to Chelsea. The club recently won the hearts of football fans. They won the National League and were promoted to League Two.
