Premier League Relagation Battle: Everton survived relegation from the Premier League by a hair’s breadth on Sunday, defeating Bournemouth 1-0 at a boisterous Goodison Park. Leeds United will join Leicester City in the English second division after losing 4-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, with Southampton’s relegation already confirmed. Everton’s unbroken 69-year tenure in the English Premier League will be extended after midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure’s sensational strike secured them a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on the last day of the season. Sean Dyche is team went into Sunday’s game knowing that a win at Goodison Park would be enough to keep them in the Premier League, but the nervous hosts battled to break down their opponents in a tight first half. There were plenty of scary moments for the home fans late in the game, but Everton hung on to finish 17th, two points ahead of Leicester City in 18th.

Leicester City

Leicester City were demoted from the Premier League after a 2-1 victory against West Ham United, while Everton beat Bournemouth 1-0 on Sunday to remain up. The Foxes ended a five-game winless streak but could not avoid the relegation; Harvey Barnes and Wout Faes put the Foxes ahead 2-0 before Pablo Fornals cut the deficit in half. Leicester, who were promoted to the Premier League in 2014 and won the title against all odds in 2016, finished in 18th place with 34 points, two points behind Everton, and were demoted alongside already condemned Southampton and Leeds United.

Leeds United was relegated from the Premier League after losing 4-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road in the last game of the regular season on Sunday. For the visitors, Harry Kane scored twice. Leeds, who needed to win and hoped for other things to go their way after three seasons in the top flight, succumbed to a bogus Spurs squad and were demoted to the Championship. Tottenham also had goals from Pedro Porro and Lucas Moura as they finished eighth, just missing out on a spot in the UEFA Conference League. Leeds received a consolation goal from Jack Harrison.

Who’s get promoted to Premier League?

Next season’s Premier League will be more exciting as we will see some inspiring stories come from Championship. Vincent Kompany guided Burnley to promotion to Premier League with a Championship title. Sheffield United finished second in the Championship 2022/23 and they will play in the next season. Luton Town’s penalty-shootout victory in the playoffs final assured their first-ever entry into England’s top-flight.
