Igor Stimac’s India on Friday announced a probable squad of 28 for the Asian Games 2027 and the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. While some Indian Super League clubs saw a host of their players being named in the probable squad, some other clubs found no representation in the national team at all. Now that the squad is out, let’s take a look at how the clubs have fared in terms of the presence of their players squad.

No place in Stimac’s India
Some Indian Super League clubs have found themselves at the other end of the spectrum. None of their players have been called up to the national team. Chennaiyin FC, North East United FC, Punjab FC and Jamshedpur FC are the clubs that will not have any players in the national team.
Next up is the ISL team that has seen only one of its players being called up. Goalkeeper Amrinder Singh is the only one representing Odisha FC in the Indian squad. The Kalinga Warriors have not seen any other players named in the squad.
Two ISL teams have seen two of their players selected by Stimac in the squad. Defenders Akash Mishra and Nikhil Poojary will represent Hyderabad FC in the Indian setup while Ishan Pandita and Rahul KP has been selected from Kerala Blasters FC.
Three players each from East Bengal FC and FC Goa have been selected in the 28-man probable squad. The Red & Gold Brigade will have Mahesh Singh Naorem, Nandhakumar Sekar and Lalchungnunga representing them. Brandon Fernandes, Udanta Singh Kumam and Sandesh Jhingan will represent FC Goa.
Bengaluru FC and ISL Shield winners Mumbai City FC have the second highest number of players in the squad. Five from each have been called up by Stimac. Islanders have Lalengmawia Ralte (Apuia), Lallianzuala Chhangte, Vikram Partap Singh, Mehtab Singh and Rahul Bheke in the squad. Beside skipper Sunil Chhetri, Bengaluru FC’s Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Rohit Kumar, Suresh Singh Wangjam and Roshan Singh Naorem see their names in the squad.
Mariners sailing in National team
Defending ISL champions and ISL 10’s table toppers Mohun Bagan Super Giant tops the list with seven players. The Mariners will see several of their players in the squad. Vishal Kaith, Anirudh Thapa, Glan Martins, Liston Colaco, Sahal Abdul Samad, Manvir Singh and MBSG captain Subhasish Bose have been selected.
