West Ham turn down Manchester City’s £90 million bid for Arsenal-linked star

West Ham have swiftly rejected Manchester City's £90 million offer for Declan Rice. Arsenal remains in contact with West Ham and is expected to submit a third bid for Rice after their initial two offers were declined.

Declan Rice’s £90 million offer from Manchester City has been instantly rejected by West Ham. The Premier League winners made a proposal of £80 million upfront and an additional £10 million in add-ons for the England midfielder, but West Ham rejected the deal. Arsenal are still trying to get Rice and is still in contact with the Hammers, who anticipate that their London rivals will make a third offer after their first two bids were turned down.

The amount of City’s offer was equal to the second Rice offer from Arsenal, which West Ham turned down last week. The Arsenal had made an offer of £75 million upfront and £15 million in add-ons, but they wanted to spread out the payments over several years.

Rice is valued at £100 million by West Ham, who has understood that he wants to go on and play in the Champions League. According to 90min, City’s offer was quickly turned down. The Hammers also hope that by making the offer, interested parties would now engage in a bidding war.

West Ham has been left unsatisfied by the offers they have received thus far, and Arsenal is set to return to the negotiation table with a third offer. However, Rice continues to be their top transfer target and is rumored to be friends with manager Mikel Arteta.

In addition to having a strong interest in Rice, Manchester United is debating whether or not to make an offer. While Ilkay Gundogan left for Barcelona on a free transfer on Monday after seven incredibly successful seasons at the Etihad Stadium, City, a close neighbor, may view the West Ham captain as a worthy successor and might come back with a better offer.

Rice is still valued at £120 million by West Ham, although the club reportedly would take £100 million plus a player. After leading West Ham to their first European championship in 58 years, Rice will quit the club in the off-season.
