West Ham have launched a stunning £60 million bid for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. Since losing the leadership, the England defender’s future at Manchester United has been overshadowed by uncertainty. A number of clubs are keeping tabs on the Scotland international ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Hammers’ boss, David Moyes, has made the Manchester United defender a primary priority. West Ham are negotiating a salary deal that will benefit all parties, including Manchester United. This follows Maguire’s recent pay increase following their Champions League qualification.

Maguire was recently stripped of his leadership at Old Trafford by Erik ten Hag. He only made eight Premier League outings last season.

Manchester paid £80 million to sign Leicester’s central defender. Harry Maguire would prefer to play first team football this season, with the Euros coming up next summer. Moyes wants more depth at centre back to compensate for Kurt Zouma’s injury issues. Maguire might complement Nayef Aguerd, another ball-playing defender.

Moyes is also interested in Maguire’s teammate Scott McTominay as a midfield reinforcement. Ajax’s Edson Alvarez is on his way to the London Stadium as a direct replacement for Declan Rice’s £105 million exit.

For some weeks, West Ham has been in talks with Manchester United about signing McTominay, 26. They may explore a double swoop if they can reach an agreement with Maguire.

Following the departure of Mason Mount from Chelsea, Scotland international McTominay has fallen down the pecking order at United. The prominence of Casemiro in Ten Hag’s plans has increased.
