West Ham chairman CONFIRMS departure of Declan Rice

With a price tag of £100m, West Ham midfielder Declan Rice will leave the club in summer as he played his final game for West Ham, confirmed by club chairman.

Declan Rice Transfer: West Ham chairman David Sullivan gives a big update on Declan Rice’s future. The West Ham star wants to leave the club this summer and the club chairman expects to part ways with the 24-year-old midfielder this summer.

According to 90min, West Ham are expecting several bids for Declan Rice who is linked with top clubs from the last 12 months. West Ham emerged victorious in Wednesday’s Europa Conference League final. The Hammers ended their trophy drought after 43 years. The club has added a price tag of £100m on Rice’s head.

After winning the trophy, Rice didn’t give any hint about his departure and admitted it was ‘not goodbye yet.’ However, Sullivan has cleared all doubt with the statement that the Conference League final was Declan Rice’s final game for the club.

Sullivan told talkSPORT, “I think it has to be (Rice’s final game). We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going. You can’t ask for a man who has committed more to us this season. In due course, he has to get on and we have to get a replacement – or several replacements.”

West Ham chairman discussed that Rice was offered a good amount to stay but the 23-year-old rejected the offer 18 months ago. He admitted that they will not stop a player who doesn’t want to stay. He said, “It’s not something we want to happen. We offered him £200,000-a-week 18 months ago. He turned it down. It’s cost him £10m to stay at West Ham in that time [in lost wages]. And he wants to go. You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”

Sullivan said West Ham are yet to receive any bids for the midfielder but he believes the bids will be higher. He added, “I think the offers will start to come today. There are three or four clubs who have shown interest, but out of respect to West Ham, while we’re still playing, you don’t make offers for players. That’s not the way decent clubs do things.”

Declan Rice is on the radar of top Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United. Apart from them, Bayern Munich is also offering him Bundesliga move in the summer. At present, Arsenal and Chelsea are the frontrunners in the race for the West Ham midfielder.
