Luis Rubiales, head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), is in hot water. This follows his kiss on the lips with Spain’s Jennifer Hermoso. An improper celebration of the country’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Final victory against England on Sunday night in Sydney.

When congratulating Jenni Hermoso, a Pachuca player, the president kissed her on the lips. Rubiales snatched her and patted her on the back. The moment astounded those watching around the world, with many rushing to social media to wonder what had happened.
Speaking about the incident afterwards, the 33-year-old said on Instagram: ‘Eh, but I didn’t like it.’
Rubiales was on stage with Spain’s Queen Letizia to award medals to tournament winners when the incident occurred. The president’s actions sparked indignation and bewilderment on social media.
On August 20th, 2023, the Spanish Women’s Football team created history by winning their first World Cup title. Olga Carmona’s well crafted first-half goal topped off a strong display. The scoreline, though, did not do justice to the dominance enjoyed by a team that entered the tournament in disarray.
Jennifer Hermoso, the Pachuca forward, had a fantastic tournament as well. With 20 minutes remaining, she had the opportunity to put the contest beyond dispute. It was when England custodian Mary Earps saved her penalty. Fortunately for Hermoso, her error went unpunished as Spain cruised to victory and their first World Cup title.
