Brazilian football icon Neymar Jr.’s journey of coming back from his ligament injury is turning into a painful one. The Al Hilal starlet ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee just last month while playing for his country at the international level.
Not only did the injury end his season early, but it also caused him a lot of pain during the long rehabilitation process. A video posted by Neymar of his painful recovery has now gone viral on social media, showing the icon’s heartbreaking journey.
While no timeline has been set for Neymar’s return, the CBF has expressed optimism that the 31-year-old will be able to return in time for Copa America 2024, which will be held in the United States from June 20 to July 14.
Neymar has a history of injuries to his right ankle and right foot. The former Barcelona forward missed six weeks in 2021 and sat out of Brazil’s Copa America success in 2019. Neymar has been limited to 17 appearances for both Al Hilal and Brazil this season. In February of this year, he sustained an ankle injury and missed five months while being at PSG.
