WATCH: Salah assist twice in late comeback for Liverpool, goes into history books

Salah grew into the game against Wolves slowly and was unstoppable in the second half

Liverpool on Saturday produced a late comeback against Wolverhampton Wanderers to win 3-1 on Saturday, with two late goals adding to the drama. The win saw Liverpool reclaim the lead in the Premier League, at least temporarily. Mohamed Salah orchestrated the comeback for the Reds with two assists and went into the history books.

Mohamed Salah has broken the Premier League’s all-time record for African player assists after providing two assists for Liverpool against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Previously, the record was held by Rihad Mahrez of Manchester City.

Speaking after the victory against Wolves, Andy Robertson heaped on the Egyptian winger.

“He probably only gets credit when he gets goals now, which is slightly unfair, but he’s got two assists today, and he’s got us back in the game. He’s created the chances for us.”

Wolves started on a bright note and were soon rewarded for their aggressive approach. Hee-Chang Hwang scored for the home side, as Liverpool looked lackluster.

The Reds came back strongly in the second half, with Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson getting on the score-sheet. The third was an own goal scored in the dying minutes through a deflected shot of Harvey Elliot.

Salah grew into the game slowly and was unstoppable in the second half. He has been instrumental in the goal scoring department for the Reds so far this season. Salah has been the creator-in-chief for the Reds. Liverpool has scored 12 goals, and he has been involved in six of them, scoring twice.

Salah will have to be at his best if Liverpool need to give themselves any chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Liverpool will be playing the Europa League and would want to add to their European silverware.
