PSG could have provisionally topped the standings with a win over OGC Nice but slipped down to third on eight points

Kylian Mbappe made the headlines in the match between PSG and OGC Nice for the right as well as wrong reasons. The PSG star scored a wonder goal in Ligue One match against OGC Nice. The French forward scored a brace but couldn’t stop PSG from experiencing their first league defeat of the season. The Frenchman was also seen exchanging heated words with Nice forward Terem Moffi after the latter’s second goal.

PSG, who on Tuesday host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, could have provisionally topped the standings with a win but slipped down to third on eight points.

They are one point behind second-placed Nice, still unbeaten in the 2023-24 campaign, and two points off leaders AS Monaco, who travel to Lorient on Sunday.

Mbappe starred in the match and looked sharp as usual. He equalised for PSG in the 29th minute. However, Nice scored two goals in the second half to tilt the game in their favour.

Mbappe pulled one back towards the dying stages of the match and that goal got the football world talking.

Randol Kalu Muani’s cross from the right was met with absolute perfection from the WC Golden Boot winner. Mbappe produced a fantastic air-borne side-volley which rippled the far left net of OGC Nice goal.

However, a previous incident might have spurred Mbappe on. He was left visibly frustrated after Nice’s third goal when goalscorer Terem Moffi decided to take his shirt off. When Moffi returned to his own half following the celebration, Mbappe was seen saying something to the forward. The forward replied too, before teammates separated them.

However Moffi had the last laugh in the day even as Mbappe added two more goals to his Ligue One tally.
