After Manchester United trounced Fulham on Sunday afternoon, Erik ten Hag gave a stirring statement to excite the Old Trafford crowd. With a 2-1 victory over Fulham to round out the Premier League campaign, United secured a third-place finish in the standings and the second-most points in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

The first season of Ten Hag has been a smashing success. The 53-year-old has already won the Carabao Cup, helped his team once more qualify for the Champions League, and will have another chance to win a trophy next week when the FA Cup is decided. On Sunday, the players gathered for a lap of honor following the final whistle.

After Ten Hag presented a delighted David de Gea with his Golden Glove award, he picked up the microphone to address supporters. In a rousing speech, the manager thanked everyone connected with the club and warned Manchester City that his team was coming to lift the FA Cup.

Erik Ten Hag’s speech

Erik ten Hag said, ‘First of all, I want to say thank you to our players. I think they played a brilliant season and I want to thank you, also, they get supported by the staff, so I would also say thank you to the staff, who also did a magnificent, good job.’

He continued, ‘Secondly, I want to thank you all. We felt a really strong bond during the season, at Old Trafford and also away. So I want to thank you for the season, for the contribution, for backing us, for the support, and it was great, so thank you.’

He ended by saying, ‘When I say these words, there is still one game to go, and I am sure, that these players will give everything to beat Manchester City next week. So we count on you as well. They will give everything if you are backing us. I am sure we have a really good chance to take the cup back to Old Trafford.’
