Vitesse Stand Collapse: In a terrifying incident in the Eredivisie, the Dutch league on Sunday, a stand full of Vitesse Arnhem fans broke down right in front of the celebrating players. the fans must be counting their blessings to escape without an injury. Vitesse fans were bouncing up and down in celebration when approximately 35 of them dropped a few feet as the area they were occupying inside the Goffertstadion buckled.
The away stand collapsed when Vitesse players were celebrating with their fans. 😳

The players immediately appeared shocked, with some putting their hands across their mouths and on their heads. Fans quickly clambered upwards, away from the affected part of the stand. The passionate fans who made the short journey to Nijmegen quickly got up and started celebrating again.
NEC director Wilco van Schalk told Dutch national broadcaster NOS that, according to his information, no-one had been hurt. Van Schalk said: “There was a container under the stand and that prevented anything more serious.”

Nijmegen’s Mayor Hubert Bruls said- he was shocked that such an incident had happened he said- “Luckily, as far as we know, nobody was injured. I want an investigation as quickly as possible into what happened here,” he told NOS.
Vitesse midfielder Riechedly Bazoer said “It was a shock,” he told NOS. “Luckily, everybody survived,” he was among the players who were celebrating with the Vitesse fans.

Vitesse defeated NEC Nijimen 1-0 away, Baden Fredriksen had scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute, Vitesse is currently 6th in the Dutch league winning 5, drawing 1 and losing 3 out of the 9 matches played in the league. Vitesse are set to host Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday 21st October in matchday 3 of the UEFA Europa Conference League, while NEC Nijmegen will play against Twente away in the Eredivisie.
