With around 15 minutes left, Valencia supporters allegedly racially assaulted Vinicius. The game had to be interrupted for a while because the Brazilian winger was clearly upset. Hugo Duro was punched in the face by Vinicius Junior, who was then given a red card. However, the Brazilian singled out someone in the audience and seemed to accuse them of racism.

When Vinicius was the target of more racist comments and gestures from the spectators, the Blancos found themselves in the losing column at the Mestalla. The game was stopped for a while as individuals in the audience were informed that the game would be halted if they did not behave themselves after the Brazilian identified those in charge.

Vinicius was later given a red card in stoppage time after an ugly brawl in which he slapped Hugo Duro in the face, and Real ultimately fell short by a score of 1-0.

Giorgi Mamardashvili, the custodian for Valencia, started it all off by rushing out from behind his net and confronting Vinicius. Hugo Duro briefly grasped Vinicius’ neck during the ensuing melee. The 22-year-old was dismissed after hitting a player in the face and consulting with VAR.

In the 2022–23 season, Vinicius has experienced racial abuse on an alarmingly frequent basis, according to eight accusations La Liga has already made. The course of action following another tumultuous game in the Spanish first division, which saw the division make headlines for far too many unwarranted reasons, is still uncertain, as is which authorities will take action.
