The Brazil international was totally unhappy with this approach and he made a claim that racism is pretty normal in La Liga. He also said that the Spanish top-flight ‘belongs to racists’. He made such remarks after suffering a series of abuse during the loss to Valencia in the La Liga game. Vinicius Jr also admits that Brazil (his nation) considers Spain a ‘country of racists’.

What actually happened in January?

During the winter season, some Atletico fans hung an effigy of the 22-year-old Real Madrid star from a bridge below a banner that read ‘Madrid hates Real’. The unfortunate part was no one was arrested for the next four months.

The last game against Valencia gave fire to this story and Vinicius also got support from other football fans. Vinicus Jr informed officials when he was facing racial abuse from the stands. Even the game was also stopped and later, the 22-year-old attacker was sent off in injury time when his frustrations got high when grabbed around the throat by an opposition player.

The Brazilian is also not happy with the response of the La Liga president who was critical of the player rather than condemning the racists.

Real Madrid made an official statement and considered it as a hate crime. The statement reads: “Real Madrid considers that such attacks also constitute a hate crime, for which reason it has filed the corresponding complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office, specifically with the Prosecutor’s Office against hate crimes and discrimination, so that the facts can be investigated and clear responsibilities.”

It also adds, “Article 124 of the Spanish Constitution establishes the functions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to promote the action of justice in defence of legality and the rights of citizens and the public interest.”

There were some rumors going around that Vinicius Jr will leave Real Madrid due to racial abuses. The Brazilian has no plans to leave the club. He was sent off in the stoppage time in the last game and in just 24 hours, Iglesias Villanueva, the VAR referee in the match between Valencia and Real Madrid has been FIRED. The decision came after the referee only showed pictures of Vinicius Jr and not of Hugo Duro choking him.
