Vasyl Lomachenko Openly Claims Devin Haney is “Scared”
Lomachenko claims that Haney will avoid fighting him again. “It’s not going to happen because he’s scared. He understands that he lost the fight,” Lomachenko told ESNews. “I watched a repeat of this fight, and my score was 8-4. My score was subjective, but the real score is close to 7-5.” Check out the interview with ESNews below.
The highly anticipated fight saw Haney successfully defend his titles against Lomachenko, a former three-weight champion. Despite Lomachenko’s speed, skills, and experience advantage, Haney fought very well and earned a decision win on the official judges’ scorecards. Still, the result was controversial, with many arguing that Lomachenko deserved to win the fight.
A rematch between the two would undoubtedly be another massive event and major payday for both fighters. However, Lomachenko does not believe Haney actually wants to fight him again, especially after such a close first fight. For his part, Haney has not ruled out a rematch but seems more interested in other potential opponents.
The controversy surrounding the decision and calls for a rematch are unlikely to go away soon, though. Lomachenko remains adamant that he won the fight and deserves another chance to prove it. Unless Haney agrees to a rematch, we may never get a decisive answer as to who is truly the better fighter. The plot continues to thicken!
