Uruguay FC Coach: Revolutionary Premier League coach MARCELO BIELSA closing in on position of URUGUAY HEAD COACH, Details HERETyC Sports claims that Bielsa will soon take over as head coach of the Uruguayan national team. According to the source, since firing former manager Diego Carlos, who caused Uruguay to lose the World Cup in the group stage, Bielsa has been one of their top managerial targets.
The Argentine’s contract will be in effect until the conclusion of the South American World Cup qualifying matches in 2026, with an option to renew should they advance. Having previously led Argentina and Chile, Bielsa has experience in the national team coaching spotlight.

Under temporary coach Marcelo Broli, Uruguay recently competed in friendlies and drew with Japan 1-1 and defeated South Korea 2-1. Bielsa was hailed as Frank Lampard’s replacement at Everton in January.

When it became clear that Bielsa had some odd requirements for taking over, including coaching the Under-21s for the first six months, the Toffees turned to Sean Dyche instead. It will be interesting to see how Marcelo fares on the international stage again.
