UEFA Champions League Quarterfinal 2nd leg: PSG vs Bayern Munich, Chelsea vs Porto: PSG and Chelsea both qualify for the semi-finals after winning against Bayern Munich and FC Porto respectively.

PSG avenges their loss from the finals last season against Bayern Munich after doing all the hard work in the 1st leg of the Quarter-Finals tie. Kylian Mbappe’s brace and Marquinhos’ strike in the 1st leg gave them a cushion as the French side wins 3-3 on away goals.

Chelsea’s match against Porto was a game of few chances, with the Blues staying strong defensively up until the last minute where Mehdi Taremi scored an absolute belter from Nanu’s cross with an overhead kick.

Chelsea vs FC Porto

Thomas Tuchel made 3 changes to the side that started the 1st leg last week. Thiago Silva, Kante, and Pulisic all start. Christensen and Werner were rested while Kovacic missed the tie due to an injury.

Sergio Conceicao made just 1 change to his team from the 1st leg. His side’s top-scorer Oliveira came back after missing the 1st leg due to suspension. Diaz dropped to the bench.

Although FC Porto had the best chance of the game due to a sloppy pass from Mendy to Corona. Fortunately for the Blues, Jorginho was there to block the shot before Corona got 1v1 with Mendy.

An absolutely incredible goal saw FC Porto cut the deficit into half in the 90+3 minute. Nanu swung a cross from the right side and Taremi went for an absolutely spectacular finish with an overhead kick as Mendy was rooted to his spot.

The goal reminded us of Gareth Bale’s against Liverpool or Cristiano Ronaldo’s against Juventus. Although it was too little too late for Porto who needed another goal to extend the match to extra time.

Chelsea goes on to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the 1st time since 2014.

Pochettino made 6 changes to the side that beat Strasbourg last time out. Dagba and Diallo both start at the full-back positions in place of Kehrer and Bakker. Gueye came into the midfield position in place of Herrera. Mosie Kean, Rafinha, and Sarabia drop to the bench as Di Maria, Neymar, and Draxler take their spot.

Flick made 5 changes to the side that played in the 1-1 draw against Union Berlin. Pavard, Hernandez, and Davies were recalled to the backline. Alaba and Sane also started the game.

It was Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting who scored again for the German side against his old club. Flick’s side got back in the contest as Moting fended off Kimpembe to head the ball into the net from 6 yards.

Alaba was offered space and time in the box following a run by Coman. He scooped a left-footed shot towards the goal that was saved by Navas.

The rebound looped up in the area as Moting displayed his predatory instinct to get the better of Kimpebe and convert his chance in the 40th minute.

Neymar had a chance to score but he saw his shot hit the crossbar on a frustrating evening for the French side.

Pochettino’s men lose on the night but advance to the semi-finals on away goals. They avenge their loss from last year’s finals.
