When is UEFA Champions League 2023/24 draw? Check all you need to know Details

UEFA Champions League 2023/24 is set to start with group stage games in September. The draw for the group stage will be held next week in Monaco.

UEFA Champions League draw: Europe’s biggest club competition is back in 2023/24. The playoffs will be concluded this month and we will have group stage games from September 19. London’s Wembley Stadium will host the mega final in 2024 on Saturday, June 1. The European final is returning to the London venue for a record eighth time. and the third in the UEFA Champions League era following the 2011 and 2013 finals.

Group stage draw

The biggest European clubs will compete with each other in the biggest club competition in the world. The draw for the group stage will be held on August 31, 2023, in Grimaldi Forum, Monaco as we find all participating teams after the playoffs round. 32 teams will be in action in the group stage round. 24 clubs have already qualified in the round and six clubs will join them following wins in qualifiers.

Qualified teams are also divided into four pots: Pot 1 has the title holders, the Europa League winners and the champions of the top six national leagues based on UEFA country coefficients. The other three pots are populated according to a team’s UEFA club coefficient.

6 teams who will join the main teams in the group stage will be moved to Pot 3 and Pot 4. All 32 teams are seeded into four pots and then picked randomly into 8 different groups. Two teams from the same football association cannot be drawn into the same group in the draw. Ex. – Man City and Man United or Real Madrid and Barcelona will not take part in the same group.

When does the group stage kicks-off?

The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League group stage will start from September 19. It will start just after the first international break of the season which runs from September 4-12. Here are the group stage dates:

  • Matchday 1: Sep 19/20 2023
  • Matchday 2: Oct 3/4 2023
  • Matchday 3: Oct 24/25 2023
  • Matchday 4: Nov 7/8 2023
  • Matchday 5: Nov 28/29 2023
  • Matchday 6: Dec 12/13 2023

When does the knock out stage kick off?

The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League knockout matches will start in February 2024. England’s Wembley Stadium will host the final on June 01. Here’s the schedule for knock out round:

  • Round of 16: Feb 13/14/20/21 and Mar 5/6/12/13 2024
  • Quarter-finals: Apr 9/10 and 16/17 2024
  • Semi-finals: Apr 30/May 1 and May 7/8 2024
  • Final: June 1 2024
