Manchester United: The sale of Manchester United is a process that is taking longer than one would have expected. The Glazers announced that they were looking to sell a portion of the club and a lot of suitors have cropped up, but none have finalized the deal. Among the front runners, we have Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. It was reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is closer to getting the deal done than Sheikh Jassim. But, recent images show that Avram Glazer was spotted at a hotel owned by Sheikh Jassim’s father. Follow Manchester United Football Club LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN

Manchester United: Twist in the TALE? Avram GLAZER spotted at hotel owned by Sheikh Jassim’s father amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe interest, Check OUT

Avram Glazer, the owner of Manchester United, was seen leaving the father of takeover candidate Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani’s hotel. According to what is known, Sir Jim Ratcliffe was the Old Trafford hierarchy’s top choice for the takeover bid. However, the deal has taken a fresh turn after The Mirror revealed images of Glazer leaving Claridge’s.

It’s interesting to note that Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the father of Sheikh Jassim, owns the hotel as the parent business of the Maybourne Hotel Group. The growing desire of co-chairman Joel and Avram Glazer to stay at the club over the five-month sale process, which has seen THREE rounds of bids, was a major complication. However, the American family is now prepared to sell United, and Ratcliffe continues to be the favourite.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s interest in Man United

With Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, Ratcliffe and his Ineos petrochemicals firm have been in a protracted bidding war for control of British football’s largest club. We understand that Ratcliffe is the favoured partner. The US-based Raine Group, the deal-makers picked by the Glazers, is anticipated to confirm the “winning” bid within days.

That would indicate that the other Old Trafford senior brass, including Richard Arnold as CEO, would be leaving soon – but not the two Glazer siblings. According to insiders at Old Trafford, the Glazers would rather sell the majority of the club to Ratcliffe’s Ineos Sport than to Sheikh Jassim.

The greatest offer came from Sheikh Jassim for full control at £5 billion, although Sir Jim and Ineos’ agreement for 50% valued the entire club at a level closer to the Glazers’ required £6 billion. Additionally, the Ineos offer will permit the four other siblings to sell their shares while retaining their investments in the two Glazer siblings.

Several American financial organisations have also submitted bids to purchase minority holdings in the club, which might allow the Glazers to maintain control AND fund renovations to the Carrington training facility and Old Trafford stadium. Despite Glazer’s visit to the five-star Claridge’s, it now appears that a Ratcliffe-led partial takeover is the favoured choice.
