Spurs reject Bayer Munich’s third & final offer for Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur have rejected Bayern Munich's third and last offer for Harry Kane ahead of the Premier League season.

Tottenham Hotspur has refused Bayern Munich’s “final” bid for Harry Kane, casting doubt on a summer move. Last week, the Germans met with Spurs CEO Daniel Levy in London. However, their latest bid of £86 million plus £17 million in add-ons fell far short of Tottenham’s appraisal.

The Bundesliga champions have made the England captain their main summer goal. They are, however, looking to bring in another established No.9. They have been faced with staunch opposition from those in north London, and no compromise has been reached.

Harry Kane, who is in the final year of his contract and has made no indication of signing a new one. He wants to know his future by the time Tottenham play Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday. However, it is now unclear whether the two teams will continue to hold talks.

Despite entering the final year of his contract, Spurs are naturally hesitant to part ways with their all-time leading goalscorer. Bayern’s original offer of €70 million (£60 million/$77 million) plus add-ons was rejected. A second offer from the Allianz Arena was also rejected, with the two clubs apparently valued at £25 million ($32 million).

If another offer does not come in, Spurs risk losing England captain Joe Hart for nothing next summer. From January, the 30-year-old will be free to sign a pre-contract with an international team.

Spurs thrashed Shakhtar Donetsk in a pre-season friendly at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, with Kane scoring four goals. Tottenham’s final preseason game is against Barcelona on Tuesday night in Spain.
