Super Cup 2023: Indian Super Cup 2023 mismanagement: Another day, another instance of mismanagement in Super Cup. One of the I-League clubs taking part in the on going tournament are staying in a hotel with a big hole on the ceiling. The teams have earlier expressed a great deal of dissatisfaction over the arrangements in the tournament. However, players refused to disclose identity in order to prevent trouble. It should be noted that it’s not AIFF, but rather clubs who are arranging for their own accommodation. Hence, InsideSport hereby rectifies the previous version where we held AIFF responsible for the mismanagement.

Upon contacting the AIFF, a senior official of the Apex body said, “As per the tournament regulations, clubs deal with their own accommodation. Here we (the AIFF) have nothing to do.”

A source staying with the team confirmed the condition of the hotel room as they await for better amenities. There is a huge whole in the ceiling of the room where the players are staying. The plumbing of the room is even visible. At the same time a few broken pieces are lingering around it. The club was not available for any comments on the same.

On the other hand,  Super Cup, that included some of the top football clubs from all over India, was organised by the Kerala Football Association and the All India Football Federation. However, neither of these organisations succeeded in giving the tournament’s competing clubs even the most fundamental demands.

The teams’ performance was negatively impacted by the absence of basic amenities and facilities, which also brought up important issues regarding the administration of football in India. On the practise pitch, there was no access to drinking water, and there was no ambulance present in case of an emergency as reported by IFTWC.

The local organisers admitted that the practice facilities given to teams were inadequate, The tournament’s organisers were reportedly expecting financial support from the state government through the Kerala State Sports Council (KSSC) in order to hold the competition. Nonetheless, because the deal fell through, they are now in financial trouble as reported by TOI.

Correction: The previous version of the story wrongly held AIFF responsible for poor accommodation. However, upon further research, InsideSport found out that it was the said club who arranged the accommodation. AIFF was wrongly blamed. We apologise for the unintentional mistake.
