Spurs vs Wolves: Lilywhites aim to go back to winning ways in Premier League

Tottenham will take to the field without Udogie and Romero who received red cards in their last match.

Spurs vs Wolves Live: Premier League LIVE – TOT vs WOL LIVE – Tottenham Hotspur travel to Wolverhampton for this weekend’s Premier League match. Spurs will be determined to get back to winning ways after a 1-4 defeat against Chelsea in their last match. On the other hand, Wolves also lost their 4-match unbeaten run as they lost against Sheffield United last week. VAR was on focus in both of those matches. The loss cost Spurs a lot as they lost their unbeaten run and the chance to remain at the top of the table.

Spurs were the only team left in the Premier League with an unbeaten run. They were also at the top of the league table before last weekend’s matchweek commenced. In an eventful game, Spurs saw 2 red cards.

Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off. They could not hold on to their early 1-goal lead and conceded 4. With that, Spurs dropped points and are now sitting in 2nd place in the league table. If they lose this match they could end up in 4th place.

There doesn’t seem to be any end to controversial VAR decisions affecting results this season. PGMOL made the news again after giving another controversial decision against Wolves in their match against Sheffield United last week.

A penalty in the 100th minute of the game saw Sheffield get their first win of the season. It saw Wolves’ 4-match unbeaten run end where they managed to hold off giants like Newcastle United and Manchester City. However, they’re still sitting in the 14th position at the table and will try to improve their situation.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

  • Spurs’ medical room is still occupied by 5 players who remain doubtful for the match. Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon are still missing knee issues, Ben Davies and Alfie Whiteman are yet to recover from their ankle injuries, and Ryan Sessegnon is suffering from a thigh problem.
  • Attacker Richarlison recently announced that he will have to undergo surgery due to a pelvic issue. However, it’s not known whether that will affect his availability for his match or not. On the other hand, if Davies is unavailable for the match, the coach will have to lineup the 18-year-old Ashley Phillips in the starting XI.
  • In their last match defeat against Chelsea, Micky van de Ven was taken off in the half-time because of a serious hamstring issue. It doesn’t seem like he will be available for this match. James Maddison was also taken off after he sustained a blow to his ankle. However, he will probably shake it off to start in this weekend’s match.
  • Yet, the same cannot be said for the two red cards receiving players – Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie. Udogie will serve his 1-match suspension by being benched in this match. Romero will begin his 3-match suspension with this match. He will also be unavailable for Spurs’ matches against Aston Villa and Man City.

Wolves Team News

  • Wolves have 3 players getting treatment in their medical room. Both Hugo Bueno and Pedro Neto are suffering from hamstring issues, while Joe Hodge is yet to recover from a shoulder injury. Hodge will not be available for the match. As per the coach, neither Bueno nor Neto will not be able to return before the international break. However, the former could recover by the end of the month.
  • No new player suffered any injury in Wolves’ last match defeat against Sheffield United. The only goal they scored came from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde who came off the bench. The coach could give him a place in the starting lineup instead of Tommy Doyle. However, he could go for a more defensive approach and call up Boubacar Traore.
