Ahead of the Nations League encounter, players arrived in Madrid and they got a welcome by reporters and photographers. It happened after the threats of legal action. Rubiales earlier resigned from his role as Spanish Football Federation president. A statement was released by teams regarding the boycott selection. They demanded major reforms to be made across the federation.

Victor Francis is the head of Spain’s CSD, and he held talks with the group on Wednesday morning. Players were also warned earlier that they could face legal action if they don’t stop their strike. He spoke to the media after a meeting in Madrid. He said, “The players have also shown us their concern about the need to make profound changes in the RFEF, and the RFEF has committed to ensuring that these changes occur immediately.

He added, “Of the 23 called up, 2 players have requested the possibility of leaving the concentration for reasons of lack of spirit and personal discomfort. The formula to be used will not entail sanctions. The players are in a difficult moment. I think it is good news to be able to say that the national team will play the two games with guarantees.”

There is an update after the meeting and at the end of the boycott news, Mapi Leon and Patri Guijjaro are the two players that have left the camp. Still, Spain’s national team has a squad to feature in upcoming Nations League games. The World Cup winners will face Sweden and Switzerland in upcoming UEFA games. First game is scheduled on Friday with World Cup semifinalist, Sweden.
