The two three-time European Championship winners, Spain and Germany, will clash at the MHPArena in Stuttgart on Friday evening in to kick off the Euro 2024 quarterfinals. The winners of the Spain vs Germany game will go on to face either Portugal or France in the semi-finals.

Spain, boasting a new generation of players, has emerged as a formidable force at Euro 2024. They are the only nation to have maintained a perfect record from their four matches. La Furia Roja won all three group games at a European Championship for the first time since 2008 and then staged a remarkable comeback to thrash Georgia 4-1 in their last-16 clash. This impressive form has boosted their confidence ahead of facing the hosts.

Germany, on the other hand, are on a mission to win their first European Championship title since 1996. Backed by their home crowd, Germany has been exceptional throughout the tournament. They secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Denmark in their previous game and will be looking to continue their strong performance against a formidable Spanish side.

De la Fuente is expected to stick with an unchanged starting lineup. Sixteen-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams are set to join captain Alvaro Morata in the attacking trio. Pedri is likely to retain his place alongside Rodri and Fabian Ruiz. In defense, Nacho Fernandez has recovered from a minor foot injury but is unlikely to replace either Le Normand or Aymeric Laporte. Dani Carvajal and Marc Cucurella continue as full-backs.

Germany’s coach, Julian Nagelsmann, might make some adjustments to his starting lineup. Centre-back Jonathan Tah, who missed the last game due to suspension, could be recalled at the expense of Nico Schlotterbeck. Left-back Maximilian Mittelstadt, who was dropped against Denmark, will be eager to reclaim his spot from David Raum. Florian Wirtz might return to the left side of the attack Thus allowing Jamal Musiala to move to the right, potentially replacing Leroy Sane. The midfield trio of Toni Kroos, Robert Andrich, and Ilkay Gundogan is set to remain unchanged.
