Southampton started the game quite fearlessly, the Saints were controlling all the early possession and setting the tempo for the fixture and the Southampton domination paid off as a beautiful James Ward Prowse strike gave Southampton the lead in the 25th minute.

But soon after going ahead individual mistakes crept into Southampton’s game and a lazy tackle from Salisu gave Spurs a lifeline, Salisu got his marching orders with a second yellow card after he brings Son down in the box and Tottenham were awarded an avoidable penalty. Harry Kane put the spot-kick right into the top corner.

The game took a different turn in the second half, where Tottenham was much the better side. Spurs had most of the possession in the second half and were trying to put pressure on the Southampton defense to create chances. Spurs had the ball in the back of the net twice but were undone after VAR intervened.

39′ Penalty for Spurs!! It’s a sending off for Salisu with a second yellow card after he brings Son down in the box. A red card for the home side and a Tottenham penalty.

41′ GOAL!!! Southampton 1-1 Spurs, Harry Kane scores, the England skipper fires the ball into the top corner from the spot.

53′ Harry Kane has the ball into the back of the net but is offside!! Winks finds Kane with a beautiful ball over the defenders and the striker finishes it emphatically. But he’s fractionally offside and the goal is disallowed after a VAR check.

67′ Tottenham once again have the ball into the back of the net!! Winks delivers a high cross into the box. Forster is unable to get a hold of the ball properly and the ball eventually finds the back of the net. But the goal is disallowed as Doherty is ruled to have impeded the Saints keeper.

90+5′ Great Chance for Gill!! It’s a desperate time for the hosts. Moura lays the ball to Gil, who cuts in and releases a shot. Forster is equal to it yet again. He’s been a busy man this afternoon.
