The Captain, Leader, Legend, Sunil Chhetri turns up yet again big for the Indian Football Team once again on his 150th appearance. The Indian skipper scored from the spot to give the Blue Tigers a lead in the crucial do-or-die India vs Afghanistan game in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
With the goal on his 150th cap, Chettri has created a unique feat of scoring in all of his, 1st, 25th, 50th, 75th, 100th, 125th and now 150th appearance. Chhetri’s 94th goal came in a crucial time as India needed a massive boost in the game after missing a number of chances in the opening minutes.
The goal came from the spot kick after Afghanistan’s Haroon Amiri was booked for a handball. Manvir received the ball on the right flank and delivered a cross for Chhetri. Nevertheless, Amiri intercepted with his hand, prompting the referee to award a penalty.
Sunil Chhetri took the spot kick and successfully found the net for India! Despite Azizi’s leap to the right, he couldn’t stop the powerful shot as the ball nestled into the back of the net, as the crowd erupted in the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium.
