Sergio Aguero in Hospital – What is latest on Aguero? Aguero was having breathing difficulties and was seen lying on the pitch with his hands on his chest.
The former Manchester City striker needed medical treatment on the pitch after clutching his chest and complaining of breathing problems. His heart rate was also racing and he was taken by ambulance to hospital for tests.
Reports in Spain suggest the Argentine striker is “feeling OK”.
Barca interim boss Sergi Barjuan told La Liga TV: “He told me he was a little dizzy.
“I have found out now that they have taken him to the hospital to see what he really has. I do not know any more.”
Barcelona later confirmed: “Aguero reported an episode of chest discomfort and has been transferred to the hospital for a cardiology study.”
The Argentine was making his first start for the club since his move in the summer.
Aguero joined Barca on a two-year deal after 10 years at City, a spell which saw him become their all-time leading goalscorer with 260 goals in 390 games.
The point against Alaves keeps Barcelona in ninth place – eight points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid, who beat Elche 2-1 earlier on Saturday.
Sergio Aguero in Hospital: The incident comes after Christian Eriksen was fitted with a heart-starter device following his shock cardiac arrest at this summer’s Euros.
