Savage Angel Di Maria shushes Germany legend over Lionel Messi criticism

Angel Di Maria silences Germany icon Lothar Matthau after claiming Lionel Messi is undeserving of the Ballon d'Or in 2023.

Angel Di Maria has struck back at Lothar Matthaus after he called Lionel Messi’s Ballon d’Or triumph into question. Messi, according to the Germany legend, is not the rightful Ballon d’Or 2023 winner. A savage Di Maria had the most hilaroius response to the claims.

Di Maria, responded to Matthaus’ recent statements on social media. On Instagram, he responded on a Diario Ole post, writing: “Cry somewhere else. “

Messi won his record eighth Ballon d’Or in Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet on Monday. In the voting, he finished ahead of second-placed Erling Haaland and third-placed Kylian Mbappe. Following the award ceremony, Matthaus commented that Haaland deserved to receive France Football’s honour. Which instead went to the winner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Messi’s Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria slammed him for his remarks. Di Maria was instrumental in Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup victory, scoring in the final.

Matthaus is a Ballon d’Or winner, having received the award in 1990 after Germany won the World Cup. He was also included to the Ballon d’Or Dream Team in 2020, which includes the finest players to ever win the award.
