India fell to Bangladesh 0-1 but nevertheless won the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championships thanks to a superior goal differential. India outperformed Bangladesh with a goal differential of +11 as opposed to +3. Lynda Kom, who scored five goals throughout the competition, was both the most valuable player and top goal scorer. In the tournament’s final league game, Bangladesh narrowly defeated India by one goal.

The 23-person team that will represent India in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship in Dhaka, Bangladesh, was unveiled by Maymol Rocky, head coach of the Indian U-20 Women’s National Team. The SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship and the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers are two upcoming events that the India U-20s have been preparing for from the start of their training camp in Chennai on January 6.
The 23-member squad:
- Goalkeepers: Monalisha Devi, Anshika, Anjali.
- Defenders: Shilky Devi, Astam Oraon, Kajal, Shubhangi Singh, Purnima Kumari, Varshika, Gladys.
- Midfielders: Martina Thokchom, Kajol Dsouza, Babina Devi, Nitu Linda, Tania Kanti, Shailja.
- Forwards: Lynda Kom, Apurna Narzary, Sunita Munda, Sumati Kumari, Neha, Sonali Soren, Anita Kumari.

India’s fixtures:
India are slated to play Bhutan (February 3), Bangladesh (February 5), and Nepal (February 7) in a round-robin format, before the top two sides face each other in the Final, which will take place on February 9, 2023.

- February 5: Bangladesh vs India, 6:30pm IST
- February 7: India vs Nepal, 2:30pm IST
