Prior to the draw, India was automatically drawn to Group A, which included Pakistan, Kuwait, and Nepal. Lebanon will be the fourth squad in Group B, joining the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.

Kuwait and Nepal will kick off the SAFF Championship 2023 in Bengaluru on June 21, followed by India and Pakistan later that day. In Group B, Lebanon plays Bangladesh in the morning and the Maldives plays Bhutan in the afternoon on June 22. The top two teams from each group will compete in the semi-finals on July 1, with the final taking place on July 4.

June 21, 2023 

India vs Pakistan, 19:30 IST.

Nepal vs India, 19:30 IST.

India vs Kuwait, 19:30 IST.

For the first time in five years, India and Pakistan will meet in the SAFF Championship. The last time the two sides met was in the 2018 SAFF Championship semifinals. India triumphed 3-1. In 2021, the Blue Tigers won their ninth championship by defeating Nepal 3-0 in the SAFF tournament finals. The most recent international friendly match between India and Kuwait took place in preparation for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. The Kuwaitis won 9-1 over the Blue Tigers.
