Roy Keane makes first appearance for Man United in 18 years, launches third kit

Roy Keane marked his first official appearance with the Man United in 18 years as he launched club's third kit for 2023-24.

Former Man United star, Roy Keane marked his first official involvement with the club since his departure in 2005 as a player. It’s been 18 years now since we saw Irishman coming for Man United for any official visit.

Ex-Man United skipper launched the 2023-24 third kit for Man United. He left the club in 2005 as a player after a successful career at Old Trafford. His Man United career ended after an explosive interview with the in-house TV channel MUTV, in which he criticised his teammates.

The Irishman has been back to the club many times as a pundit, but this was the first official appearance in the promotional video for the club’s third kit launch. Keane was seen asking current players whether they have what it takes to be a true red devil. We can see the return of the red devil emblem on the kit. The retro-style white shirt with red markings has been replaced by the red devil which features on the club’s full badge.

Keane says in the video, “So you’re a devil are you? Well let’s remind you of the terms. The devil isn’t something you wear. It’s more like a pact, a deal, shall we say. It’s not for everyone. We expect a lot. And as sure as the sun will rise, we will know if you mean it. So have a good long think.

He added, “What do you get in return? What’s on offer? It’s Manchester United. He ends with, “So there it is. No small print. Sign on the dotted line. But you already signed, didn’t you? Before you were even born.”

Roy Keane was sitting at a table where we can see a plate of prawn sandwiches. We remember his famous “prawn sandwich brigade” comment, criticising a section of the Old Trafford support. The scene takes us back to a rant from Keane after a win over Dynamo Kyiv at Old Trafford in 2000. It was a do-die affair for them and they secured a 1-0 victory to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.
