Roberto Firmino TRANSFER: Roberto Firmino has played his last match at Anfield as Liverpool have confirmed that he will be leaving the club. Reportedly, he has received interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and more clubs. There were rumours that Real Madrid are already in talks with the player. However, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, no negotiations are going on between the two parties. Real Madrid are only discussing internally about a possible move for the player. Roberto Firmino has spent some of Liverpool’s recent most glorious seasons with them. He was a pivotal player in their success alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. In the 8 years, he stayed with the club, he made 360 appearances and scored 109 goals.

He has won the Champions League, the Premier League, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup, and several more trophies with Liverpool. However As time went on, players left, and new players came, Liverpool adapted. As Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez took the lead for Liverpool’s attack, Firmino saw less and less playing time.

The 31-year-old has expressed, “The cycle here is ended and I understand it is time to go.” There is still no solid lead as to where he might go, but he has several offers to consider. He will be leaving the club as a free agent. Adding his skills to that factor, his arrival will be severely beneficial for any club that decides to bring him in. Reportedly, AC Milan have become the first club to contact the player for a possible move to Italy. However, there are still interests coming from Spain.

Both Spanish Giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid have shown significant interest in Firmino. Barcelona’s attacking options are quite limited with Robert Lewandowski leading the front. Both Ferran Torren and Ansu Fati have been disappointing, while Raphinha has been inconsistent. They are also battling financial issues, so the arrival of Firmino on a free transfer will be the most beneficial to the club. On the other hand, Real Madrid are discussing internally about bringing over Firmino to Santiago Bernabeu.

However, they have not contacted Firmino yet, so negotiations have started. Karim Benzema has been Real Madrid’s main man in the final third. However, at 35 years of age, he has struggled with his health quite a lot recently. He even missed the World Cup 2022 with France due to an injury. Because of such fitness issues, Real Madrid have had to play without their captain a few times this season. Even when he has been on the pitch, he has not always been the best man for Real Madrid. Hence, bringing over Firmino as a backup will be perfect for them.

Benzema will be with Real Madrid for at least another year. Additionally, there is a chance that Florentino Perez will bring over Erling Haaland next year. In the wake of that, having Firmino as their backup can be exactly what they need to boost their attack. Firmino was perfect at bringing the wingers at Liverpool, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah into play. Both Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr have proved themselves at Real Madrid and with the help of Firmino, their performance could develop.
