Roberto Firmino Farewell at Anfield
On Saturday, during his final game at Anfield, Firmino was given an emotional standing ovation by the Liverpool supporters and a guard of honor by his teammates. In a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, the Brazilian honored his final Kop appearance with a crucial equalizer that maintained the team’s tenuous Champions League ambitions.
The crowd then continued to shout his name as the former Hoffenheim star departed the field in tears. Klopp was all praise for Firmino on his leaving party on Sunday evening.
Klopp said, ‘You are so football smart, in training sessions you are the first to get the exercise. It’s like you saw it once: “Ah, okay, go for it”. It’s really special and it makes you the player you are, with all the technical stuff, but your football brain is incredible. That’s all good and makes you the player you are.’
