Premier League clubs are busy in pre-season friendlies. Tottenham and Leicester City’s pre-season encounter was scheduled to be held in Thailand where the Spurs were supposed to play in Bangkok after arriving from Perth, Australia. Their players took flight from Australia to reach there, but the game was abandoned.
The Tottenham-Leicester game was likely to kick off at 11 am UK time. July is the rainy season in most of the Asia and Thailand is one of the areas. A heavy downpour left the ground in a dire state and the authorities made a call on the game and canceled it over player safety concerns.

Tottenham issued an official statement that reads, “Tonight’s friendly against Leicester City has been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch and adverse weather conditions. The event organisers, based on a recommendation from the match officials, deemed the pitch at the Rajamangala National Stadium unplayable and unsafe following heavy rainfall in Bangkok.”
It was a big blow to local Thailand fans who booked tickets to watch their favourite Premier League stars. The Foxes also have a strong fan following in Thailand, courtesy to being owned by King Power which is a duty-free company based in the country. It was also the first time Tottenham came here to play a friendly fixture.
Tottenham recently started their pre-season tour with an opening game in Australia. They recieved huge support in Perth. West Ham defeated Tottenham in the opening pre-season game but it was a good game to figure out their positives and negatives. It was also a debut game for the new head coach. They will now make travel to Singapore to face Lion City Sailors. On the other hand, Foxes will take on Liverpool in the same location.
