Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Karim Benzema to miss EL CLASICO tie

On squad news

“Karim and Mendy cannot play tomorrow and they will stay here to work with us next week.”

On Benzema’s fitness

“We’ve never risked anything, and we didn’t risk anything in Paris either. He can’t play tomorrow because he hasn’t trained. He still feels some discomfort. It’s a minor injury, but it doesn’t allow him to train or play.”

“Who will play tomorrow in Benzema’s place? I have already decided it but I won’t tell you. Bale is one of the options but we also have Mariano, Jovic, Rodrygo, Isco… I have chosen the best option for this game. We can win without Karim Benzema, yes. He’s important for us because he scores. Now we have to find someone else.”

“I’m not worried about Benzema. He’s 34 so he has suffered small problems this season but he has always returned stronger. He will recover next week and he will be ready for the most important part of the season.”

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: On Barcelona and El Clasico

“Barcelona have a clear style of play and Xavi symbolizes it perfectly. They’re doing a good job. El Clasico is a huge game, it will be special. The team is fine and we are ready.

“We have to play a complete game. We have to defend well, to keep the ball, to play vertically.. it will be a complete game. If we win tomorrow we will have 3 more points. If we draw 1 points.. we don’t have to think about Barcelona’s points.”

On his time at Real Madrid: “My honeymoon at Real Madrid? I’m happy here. I have the respect of all the players. Bale and Hazard? I’m happy with them. It’s obvious they want to play more but I haven’t given them minutes because I chose other players. But they’re very professional.”
