Real Madrid has recently announced that their key player Eduardo Camavinga has renewed his contract with them. The talented 20-year-old midfielder signed a new contract a few days ago which will keep him at the club till 2029. Reportedly, he will be receiving an increased salary as per the new contract. Additionally, his release clause has also been updated to €1 billion. As per reports, the talks of this contract extension between Los Blancos and Camavinga’s entourage started back in March, this year.
However, it took some time to agree upon a deal. Reportedly, the new deal was finalised last month. Camavinga signed the new deal very recently and Madrid announced the news officially on their website yesterday. Camavinga joined Real Madrid 2 years ago in 2021 after Madrid’s attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe failed. The club’s scouting team were actively keeping tabs on him for 2 years before that. They also met with his entourage in the meantime and agreed upon a deal to sign him in 2021.
They brought him on a €31 million plus add ons deal which seems like a bargain considering the French star’s performance so far. Camavinga became an important part of the team since he joined at 18 years of age. Coach Ancelotti has been playing him in the central midfield, defensive midfield, and when needed, even in the left-back position. However, the coach recently said that his best position is the pivot in midfield. The player has played a key role in several of Los Blancos’ important match wins.
He has made over 110 appearances for Real Madrid so far. In this season, he’s been called up in 15 games throughout all competitions. In just 2 seasons, Camavinga has already won 6 trophies with the team. His signature was one of the number of talents that Real Madrid are collecting in line. They’ve already agreed terms with Rodrygo, Eder Militao, and Fede Valverde till 2028, and Vinicius Jr till 2027. They are yet to announce Militao and Valverde’s contract extensions which could come soon.
Valverde’s news could be announced sometime later this week. Madrid are not only determined to tie down their key players, but they are also increasing the release clause in the contracts. Especially in the light of temptations from Saudi clubs, they are not ready to take chances. As of now, they will shift their focus on the Champions League match at hand against Braga on Wednesday night. Los Blancos only need a single point from the game to qualify for the knockout stages.
