Eder Militao: Real Madrid’s season has started off on the worst foot possible. If losing their star keeper, Thibaut Courtois was a blow enough, they have to deal with yet another long term injury. Eder Militao too joins Courtois on the injury table after he too suffered an ACL injury. Eder Militao was taking part in Real Madrid’s La Liga opener when he injured his ACL. Now, it is expected that he too will be out of action for a couple of months.

Eder Militao’s injury
Eder Militao’s torn ACL has delivered Real Madrid yet another devastating injury blow. In the 50th minute of Madrid’s La Liga opener against Athletic Bilbao, which Los Blancos won 2-0 on goals from Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham, the defender left the field in tears. The news that the Brazil international will be sidelined for a while confirmed Madrid’s worst concerns on Sunday.
Just a few days prior, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois sustained a similar injury during a training session, sidelining him for the majority of the season. After replacing the defender with Rudiger, as he hobbled off the field on Sunday, Real Madrid issued a statement confirming the news.
Their statement read, ‘Following tests carried out on our player Eder Militao, he has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee,’ the statement began. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days.’
At the start of the second half, the 25-year-old attempted to challenge Oihan Sancet, but ended up getting trapped in the grass, breaking his ligament. He thudded the grass in agony, but two Real Madrid medical staff members carried him off the field without the need for a stretcher.
While Madrid still had Rudiger, Nacho Fernandez, and David Alaba as Militao’s backups, they were compelled to enter the transfer market to find a replacement for Courtois.
Courtois ACL injury
Thibaut Courtois was ruled out for several months after suffering a horror knee injury. After hurting his left knee during practice, Courtois left the facility in tears. Real Madrid later announced that he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. Andriy Lunin is the only senior keeper still available for the team due to the injury.
Before suffering a terrible injury to his left knee, the Belgium goalkeeper was going through the motions with his Real Madrid teammates during one of their final preseason practices. After hurting his knee, Courtois, 31, is alleged to have been in excruciating pain.
Real Madrid closing in on Kepa
Due to an injury to regular goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid is allegedly close to signing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on a loan basis. The 14-time Champions League champions were first connected to a transfer for former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

However, according to BBC, it is Kepa who is going to become the goalie for the Los Blancos for the upcoming season. Chelsea’s keeper was linked to a move to Bayern Munich but an injury to Thibaut Courtois means that Kepa’s heart is now set on a move to Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that there will be no obligation for Madrid to sign Kepa permanently at the end of the loan deal.
