Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, has responded to the persistent speculation over Luka Modric’s possible transfer to Inter Miami. Modric is rumoured to be joining old foe Lionel Messi at the MLS club. Ancelotti denied that Luka Modric is looking to quit Real Madrid.
In response to the transfer rumours, the Blancos manager stated: “I don’t think he’s raising it (leaving in January). We think he’s very important and he knows it too. He doesn’t have that thought and we’re happy with him.”
Numerous rumours have circulated, leading many to believe that the Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder is considering his options. After seeing little action with the Blancos in 2023–2024, this follows. Since his current contract only runs until the summer of 2019, an early termination would be possible to discuss in January.
At the beginning of 2024, Modric may have the option of becoming a free agent. However, Ancelotti believes the 38-year-old Croatian playmaker is not actively seeking a transfer.
In 2012, Modric transferred from Tottenham of the Premier League to Real Madrid, where he has made 496 appearances. In addition to being crowned the greatest player on the earth in 2018, he has assisted them in winning five Champions League titles and three domestic championships.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi reportedly wants Modric to join Inter Miami as their newest star player. Former “Galactico” David Beckham co-owns the Florida-based team, which has already signed ex-Barcelona stars Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
