PSG go toe-to-toe with Man United by bidding £43 million for Rasmus Hojlund

PSG compete Manchester United for the Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund by presenting a lower bid than Red Devils worth at £43 million.

Rasmus Hojlund Transfer: Manchester United are desperately looking for a forward. They have fixated on the Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund. They registered their latest bid worth around £51.3 million in total. Man United are aware that PSG are also interested in the player. However, they believe that Atalanta’s £60 million asking price is too much. Hence, they presented a £43 million bid for Hojlund the very next day of Man United’s bid. As of now, the Red Devils have scheduled another round of talks with the Serie A club.

Reportedly, PSG did not waste any time after Manchester United presented their opening bid to Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund. Atalanta’s asking price was set at over £60 million. Man United’s opening bid was worth £42.8 million plus £8.5 million in add-ons. PSG offered their bid the very next day which is worth around £43 million. As per reports, they believe the asking price to be unrealistic. Hence, their bid is less than Man United’s and they are also ready to walk away if their bid gets rejected.

Reportedly, PSG also had positive personal terms discussions with Hojlund. However, it is now known that the Danish forward is keen on a move to Man United. He is pushing for it and the Red Devils are aware of it. Additionally, they are also aware that after PSG put up Kylian Mbappe for sale, they are also in the market for a forward and they are interested in Hojlund. In the wake of PSG’s bid after theirs, Man United have reached out to Atalanta to schedule a new round of talks.

Currently, the Red Devils’ bid is worth much more than PSG’s. Their bid is also closer to Atalanta’s asking price. Hence, they have a better chance of seeing through the transfer. Man United have already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Internazionale. David De Gea left the club very recently after a lot of controversies. Now, Onana could serve as their first-choice goalkeeper. The only place in the field they are now determined to improve in the final third.

Man United started the pre-season campaign on a good note as they won three consecutive friendlies. However, they recently lost a high-voltage friendly game against Real Madrid by a 2-0 margin. Following the defeat, coach Erik Ten Hag admitted that they definitely need a striker before the transfer window closes. However, when he was asked about Hojlund, he said, “We never talk about players under contract with another club. We have our targets. We are 24/7, we are busy with it, with the right player to sign a contract with us.”

On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe and PSG’s relationship has soured. The French striker only has a year left on his contract. However, he neither wants to extend his contract nor wants to move to a new club this transfer window. This means he will leave PSG at the end of this upcoming season as a free agent. Naturally, PSG want to make some money from the player’s transfer, so they have put him on the market to sell. Hence, they also need to replace him with another striker and they are going for Hojlund.
