PSG vs Clermont Foot: Lionel Messi’s tenure in Paris came to an end on Saturday night, as PSG lost 2-3 to Clermont. Sergio Ramos, who is leaving the club, handed PSG the lead, which Klylian Mbappe doubled. Clermont would not be denied, though, as goals from Johan Gastien, Mehdi Zeffane, and Grejohn Kyei helped them pull off a stunning shock.

Players from both teams came together in Paris on an emotional evening to pay respect to PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico, who is still in urgent condition after suffering a horseback riding accident in Spain last weekend. Prior to kickoff, PSG also announced that Messi will not extend his two-season contract with the team past this season, making this his goodbye to the supporters.

Ramos headed home a long cross from Vitinha to start the scoring in what was also his final game for PSG. With his 29th goal of the year, Kylian Mbappe made it 2-0 from the penalty spot to help him win the Golden Boot.

Clermont responded through Johan Gastien after having a Grejohn Kyei goal disallowed for handball when the score was 0-0, but Kyei missed his subsequent penalty attempt. But Clermont would not be deterred, as goals from Johan Gastien and Mehdi Zeffane allowed them to square the score shortly before halftime.

Mehdi Zeffane was able to score Clermont’s equalise just before halftime when the ball kindly returned to him, and Kyei eventually scored his goal just beyond the hour mark with a close-range effort.

Grejohn Kyei, who missed a penalty and had a goal disallowed in the first half, would score the third goal to give Clermont the victory in the second half as the visitors kept up the pressure. Messi would come close with two free kicks, but his team was unable to get a point.
