PSG are on the brink of signing their new coach Luis Enrique on a two-year deal. As per reports, both parties have already agreed terms. PSG will soon be signing the player and announcing him after handling issues with their current coach Christophe Galtier. PSG are yet to announce that they are parting ways with Galtier. Taking over from Pochettino on a two-year deal in July, 2022, Galtier still has a year left on his contract. Hence, PSG will have to pay him a hefty compensation to let him go.
However, it will be hard for Galtier to negotiate the compensation amount after being arrested. He and his son were taken into police custody on Friday morning on the suspicions of discrimination during his time as the OGC Nice coach. As per reports, Galtier made several racist comments towards the Muslim and black players at Nice. An email was even leaked that showed the discriminatory comments. He has also been accused of turning down a player signing due to his religion.
Additionally, he has been accused of not letting the Muslim players on his team observe Ramadan. PSG have not made any comments regarding the matter. However, it cannot be looking too good for their reputation as well. Hence, they could be trying to rush the process of firing Galtier following this. As per reports, they could be signing and announcing Luis Enrique as early as July 1st. This will be Enrique’s first time managing a club since he left Barcelona in 2017.

In his first year with Barcelona, in the 2014-15 season, he won the treble with them. He was even on the verge of completing the sextuple, but could not win the Spanish Super Cup that year. The next year, in the 2015-16 season, he won three more trophies by winning La Liga, Copa Del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. He left the club next year after the 2016-17 season after only winning the Copa Del Rey. He then joined Spain and remained their coach for 4 years.
With the Spanish national team, he reached the UEFA Nations League final in the 2020-21 season, but lost the title race to France. In the last few years, PSG have been on a crusade to win their first-ever Champions League trophy. They brought on some of the best players of this generation under their roof to achieve that goal. However, even Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr, Sergio Ramos, and more could not carry them to the trophy. They will again be hoping to achieve that dream under Luis Enrique.
