Away fans ‘forced’ to leave stadium during UWCL’s PSG vs Manchester United clash

The incident garnered attention from Women football enthusiasts with many questioning the logic behind throwing out fans from stadiums for supporting their own team

Sparks flew during Tuesday’s Manchester United vs PSG’s UEFA Women’s Champions League match at Leigh Sports Village. However, not all sparks were on the field. The game threw up a controversy with many visiting PSG fans claiming they were ‘kicked out’ of the Manchester United’s home stadium for supporting their team.

The incident left a bad after-taste in Manchester United’s first ever match in UWCL. A PSG fan, who went to watch the game, wrote on X (previously Twitter), “Hello, we were kicked out of the stadium because we were cheering for our team.”

The tweet garnered attention from Women football enthusiasts. Many questioned the logic behind throwing out fans from stadiums for supporting their own team. An X user wrote, “Absolutely ridiculous this. PSG fans kicked out of the stadium for cheering their team on. Pathetic from a club whose fan base gloat about their support. dish it out but can’t take it it seems.”

However many Manchester United supporters dismissed PSG supporters’ claims of kicking them out for supporting their team. One X user claimed that the PSG supporters were in the seated stand but wanted to stand and support their team. They were asked to go at the back of the gallery if they wanted to remain standing. The PSG supporters ignored the request and hence was kicked out by the stewards. The supporter further added, “It was completely fair.”

Another X user who was in the stadium wasn’t sure when the PSG fans were kicked out. The user wrote, “Not sure when they were kicked out cause there were 3 PSG fans I saw and they were there until the final whistle, cause the players went over to them after the match. Dk if you are talking about another set of fans or what…”
