Messi too on the other hand expanded his branding when he signed a major deal by becoming the official ambassador of Saudi Tourism. Saudi Arabia is known to associate themselves with imminent sports personalities and involving Messi on board to promote their country and tourism seems to be the right move.
With a fresh two-year deal as the official ambassador of Saudi Tourism, Messi is expected to visit the country quite often. Last week he was also seen at the Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah after paying a visit to the local sites.

This agreement however wasn’t taken too happily by the PSG owners who have a strong relationship with Qatar. Both Qatar and Saudi Arabia were on non-speaking terms with one another till January when the diplomatic relations between the two neighboring nations took an all-time low.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the owner of PSG via the Qatar Sports Investments hails from Qatar. He is heavily backed by his state and also the club also has Qatar Tourism as its key sponsor. Though the rivalry between the two countries, i.e Qatar and Saudi Arabia continue, there is no conflict of interest if Messi signs a sponsor from the rival country. Messi will not be impeded for signing with brands that are direct competitors to the club and its sponsors.
While PSG has American Express as one of their major sponsors, Messi on the other hand is associated with MasterCard. This doesn’t prove to be a hassle for the Paris Club. The major reason owing to which there is no clash between the rival brands is due to the fact that the PSG’s IP and Kit are not used in these deals. As for the deals made by PSG, Messi and his image rights are collectively used, thereby providing no damage to Messi’s individual brands.
The Argentine footballer this year signed a major multi-year deal in endorsing Socios.com. The fan token platform signed the player for $20 million. On the other hand, Socios.com previously signed a five-year contract with PSG in 2018.
