The Anwar Ali saga still continues and doesn’t seem to end. The Player Status Committee (PSC) was slated to meet on 30th September and give the judgement on the Anwar Ali Transfer saga. Previously, Delhi FC and East Bengal appealed to the High Court after the PSC levied hefty sanctions on the player and the clubs. And now in fresh developments, the meeting and the date for announcement has been delayed till 14th October after Delhi FC counsel requested for a delay owing to his health concerns.
InsideSport can exclusively confirm that that the PSC has received request from Delhi FC seeking an adjournment till the 6th of October. Previously, East Bengal made it clear that they will be unavailable and now the PSC has given the date of 14th October for the hearing for equal opportunity of hearing for all parties. However, the PSC has also made it clear and certain, that no request of adjournment on basis of non-availablity ground would be entertained

PSC Statement on Anwar Ali issue
A request for adjournment has been received by one of the counsels for Delhi FC seeking accommodation on personal grounds until 6th October 2024. Due to the grounds on which adjournment is sought, and in view of the non- availability already communicated by East Bengal counsel on the last date of the hearing; the hearing originally scheduled for 30th September 2024 is adjourned to provide an opportunity of hearing to all Parties. The hearing is accordingly tentatively rescheduled for 14th October 2024 at 5 PM.
It is clarified that no further adjournment shall be granted and in case of non-availability of counsels, then the parties are requested to make alternate arrangements of duly authorised counsels, failing which the matter shall be adjudicated in accordance with regulations. It is further clarified that there shall be no change in the deadline provided for submissions already communicated.
Delayed Tactics?
Well the delayed PSC hearing would be good news for Anwar Ali and East Bengal. Since the player would continue to play for the Red and Gold brigade in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) season. On the other hand, it can be estimated that the PSC will be levying similar hefty bans, sanctions and fines on the player and the clubs as they did before.
Anwar Ali previously received a 4 month playing ban while the player and the clubs were asked to pay Mohun Bagan a compensatory fee of 12.9 crores. Coupled with this, both East Bengal and Delhi FC were further slapped with 2 window bans each, forbidding them from registering any new players in both the transfer windows.
Though some might consider it to be a delayed tactic from the club or the counsel, but it is certain that the ramifications would be magnanimous. The PSC had already previously declared that Anwar Ali’s contract termination from Mohun Bagan was deemed ‘unjust’ and thus the player will be sanctioned according to the FIFA code.
