Aston Villa, a Premier League team, released Gerrard of his duties just hours after they lost 3-0 to Fulham. With only nine points from 11 games, the Villans are in a precarious position in the Premier League rankings after Gerrard’s departure. They are separated from Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are in 18th position, solely on goals scored. They are tied on points.

As the Villans are ready for a major reconstruction, five coaches, including the assistant managers Garry McAllister and Neil Critchley, have left the organisation. Despite having five other possibilities in mind, Villa sought to hire ex-Chelsea manager Tuchel. Thought to be the front-runner for the position, Mauricio Pochettino allegedly turned down the offer.

Chelsea won the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the Champions League during Tuchel’s brief (17-month) tenure as manager. For his achievements during the 2020–21 season, he was selected as the World’s Best Club Coach. Tuchel graciously rebuffed any offer since he has no desire to lead Villa. According to reports in England, the German manager won’t be persuaded even by a lucrative deal.

Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting Lisbon, is reportedly another candidate on Villa’s short list. The Portuguese coach has been mentioned in connection with the open manager’s position at Wolves, and his reputation is still solid after Sporting won the Primeira Liga in 2021, their first championship in 19 years.Amorim turned down Wolves because he didn’t want to leave Sporting, so Villa may have a hard time convincing him to transfer. While sports director Johan Lange is an admirer of his Danish compatriot and may use his buyout clause, Villa may also have difficulty luring Thomas Frank away from Brentford.
