Premier League: Paul Scholes not happy with Pogba – Paul Pogba had a terrible evening on Sunday. He lasted 15 minutes, let a goal in and was shown red card, reducing Manchester United to 10 men for the better part of the derby against Liverpool. As United were humiliated 0-5 at Old Trafford, former United legend Paul Scholes blasted Pogba, saying that the French star should never play for his side again.

“You’d have to think, if Ole’s still a manager there, will we see Paul Pogba again in a United shirt? He’s caused mayhem over the last couple of years. Everybody knows what a talent he is, everybody trusts him, every manager trusts him, tried to give him his head and let him be the player he’s been,” Paul Scholes said on BT Sport.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were 4-0 down by half time, as Mohamed Salah scored deep into extra time to put to bed any chances of United staging a 2nd half comeback. United were booed off the pitch by United’s supporters.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer introduced Pogba at the break to try and turn things around just like the Atalanta game but, if anything, he only made things worse, after just four minutes on the pitch, the Frenchman lost the ball in the middle of the park which allowed Jordan Henderson to play an excellent pass to Salah to grab his hat-trick.

Pogba’s night went from bad to worse as he received a straight red card on the hour mark for an absolutely horrendous tackle on Naby Keita.

Scholes has now called on United to offload Pogba and is adamant that the midfielder will not be missed if he left Old Trafford in January.

“To say a disappointing day would be a complete understatement. I think we all realize it’s been difficult. I just think the manager got caught up in the emotion of the comeback against Atalanta on Wednesday night,” Paul Scholes said.

“We keep going back to that game but you were never going to do that against Liverpool, they have too much quality. I don’t think it was a lack of effort, I think tactically they were set up in a way where this could happen and unfortunately it did happen,” he continued.

“Paul Pogba coming on to the pitch at half time to try to help the team and maybe get a little bit of respectability about it, he tries to stand on the ball, tries to show how strong he is in the middle of the pitch… gives the goal away. The later on gets sent off with a ridiculous tackle, now you’re 5-0 down with 10 men,” Scholes added.

For a long now Paul Pogba has been targeted by United fans and football pundits for his lack of intent in a United shirt. While he does play well for France, he has never been able to showcase his talent for United since his €105m return from Juventus in 2016.

“With all the commotion, not signing his contract, almost holding the club to ransom, and then he comes on and does something like that. It’s not Ole’s fault, don’t get me wrong, but that’s part of it which almost summed the United performance up today. Look, he probably will play [again] won’t he? But I don’t think they will be missing anything if he doesn’t,” Scholes said slamming Pogba’s attitude.

‘He’s had numerous chances, he keeps saying he lacks consistency, but that is just [a lack of] discipline and disrespect for your manager and your teammates, what he’s done today.’
