Premier League: Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford to undergo shoulder injury
Manchester United are set to start the upcoming Premier League 21-22 season without the services of Marcus Rashford after the English International revealed his decision to undergo shoulder surgery. The 23-year-old has been playing with some discomfort in his shoulder for quite some time and had decided to postpone going under the knife in order to remain available for the recently concluded Euro 2020.
The Man United star made over five appearances in the tournament and helped the Three Lions reach the final of the Euro 2020. Starting the game off the bench, Marcus was brought onto the pitch in extra time with Gareth Southgate replacing him with Jordan Henderson. He proved to be ineffective in the final following his missed penalty which eventually saw Italy lift the coveted trophy.

He has been an important part of Manchester United’s attack last season leading the line for the Red Devils. The English international was combining well with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, and Edinson Cavani when deployed out wide on the left-wing and also formed a solid partnership with fellow English team-mate Luke Shaw.
However, Marcus Rashford won’t be able to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side since during the start of next season with the surgery set to keep him on the sidelines for over 12 weeks. The English international is reported to resume his training after 5 weeks of surgery but will have to undergo rehabilitation before returning back to first team action for Man United.
Speaking about his surgery, The Manchester United forward shared a long post on his official Instagram handle explaining his decision of going under the knife. He revealed how the surgery is needed to guarantee him the opportunity of being able to play football as long as possible stating how its’ time for his to listen to his body ahead of the upcoming season.
Rashford is set to remain on the sidelines during Manchester United’s first match of the upcoming Premier League season against Leeds United and potentially remain unavailable for national callup for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
