The 26-year-old winger had a knee injury in October against Arsenal. He was supposed to miss out the football action for three months but he suffered a recurrence of the injury during a winter training camp in Dubai. It added two months more to his final recovery.
The Reds signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto last year during the winter transfer window. He had a great start to his debut season and Liverpool won two domestic titles. They came close to a Quadruple last season.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was monitoring his process. Whenever he was asked about the 26-year-old, he didn’t mention much about the injury. He was keen on taking more time for the recovery.

Liverpool needs him hard in the remainder of the Premier League as the club is fighting for Champions League qualification. Following the international break, Liverpool will make a trip to Etihad for the tough Premier League game against Manchester City.
Luis Diaz might be benched on Saturday but he will be back in the starting XI for sure. Klopp expressed his belief last month that Diaz would have a major say on Liverpool’s fortunes.
“It’s a different situation to last season,” said Klopp. “He came here having played all the games for Porto pretty much and now he’s out with an injury for the second time.”
‘I can tell you the two sessions he had with us in Dubai, it was like: “Oh my God, how good is that! Then he was injured again. When he is back, he will be really good and very impactful, of course. That is clear.
He also added, “How quickly, I don’t know. We have to see. That’s the big challenge in these moments. There’s no time for being patient but you have to be patient.”
